(Historical Notes: Okay, not a lot to say about the art itself here… aside from the perspective of the canyon stock image not quite matching up with the drawing, but I’m pretty sure I would have had to cheat that even if I did draw the background from scratch.  Instead, let me finish up what I was saying over on the Layla Cosplay pages.  Yes, Astrid’s outfits in this are about as sketchy as the ones Layla had on in that stretch, and I probably would draw some of these a bit different now.  BUT, I can defend this series a lot more than the previous batch, because it actually works AS A JOKE UNTO ITSELF.  Like, aside for the fact that we’ve already seen Astrid wearing far more suggestive stuff that make this consistent with her character, the overall joke here is a parody of trashy exploitation cinema, which would regularly present its leading ladies in even worse outfits.  Yes, there’s a fundamental absurdity of it all, but it’s an absurdity that directed OUTWARD.  Structurally, there’s a world of difference between “doesn’t this look silly” and “isn’t it silly that someone would do this,” the latter of which is inherently self-defeating.  Past Me isn’t acting above the content that Past Me is actively producing here, which I think goes a long way to making it work as a piece of comedy.

…or maybe I’m just babbling nonsense, that’s always a possibility as well.)
