(Historical Notes: I’m still not entirely sure I like Ichabod dropping the actual plot into his speech, at least not the way it’s presented here.  My thought originally was that Ichabod would fear that if he left one really obvious possibility out, then Mooney would get suspicious of him conspicuously avoiding it.  But, or course, Mooney isn’t that clever and wasn’t thinking anywhere near as far ahead as Ichabod, so him mentioning the possibility was the first time it even occurred to her.  The joke was supposed to be that Ichabod is trying to be too clever and nearly messing himself up in the process… but I don’t think it comes across that well.  Clearly, the one ACTUALLY trying too hard to be clever was ME.)
